Cable-Type Seismic Restraint
Seismic Cable Application Products
Before starting the cable installation, let's get to know the products we will use for seismic cable mounting:
- Cable Certifications and Strength Table(Our seismic cable sets STB-11,STB-12,STB-13 and STB-15 have UL Surveillance approval. )
- Brackets. Bracket types are divided into two: SLSC and SLRB
- Quick Lock(LGP). Compared to thimble connections, it allows faster installation. Provides a demountable feature.
- Thimbles and Crimping Tool. Thimbles vary depending on the cable thickness to be used. Crimping is performed with a special crimping tool.
Cable-Type Seismic Application Examples And Hanger Details
- Main pipes and branch-independent pipes larger than DN65 must be seismically restrained.
- According to the NFPA Standard, branch lines must be laterally restrained at specific intervals.
- At the beginning and end of each line, lateral bracing must be applied within 1.8 meters, and longitudinal bracing must be applied within 12 meters.
- At seismic bracing points, sprinkler hangers of pear-shaped type should not be used; instead, clamps that fully encircle the pipe must be used.
- If the distance between the pipe’s top level and the ceğiling is less than 15 cm, seismic bracing is not required.
- On straight pipe runs shorter than 3,66 meters, seismic protection may not be necessary.
What Are the Rules for Seismic Hanger Installation?
- During installation, the seismic cable must form a 45-degree angle with the vertical.
- To achieve this, a circle can be drawn around the anchor where the rod is fixed, using the distance between the pipe top level and the ceiling as the Radius.
- Any point on this circle will allow us to reach the desired 45° angle.
- In cases where is not possible, a tolerance of ±15 degrees can be applied. (Acceptable range: 30° - 60°).
